The Prayer~

Well we finally got to take the boat out and we shoved off for our first cruise and were sooo excited only for the motor to not start and as we drifted further and further away from the launch it hit me we hadn't prayed for the boat or our safety on our maiden voyage so I began to pray for the boat to start and function properly and for our safety you know the usual stuff. As soon as we finished and said Amen, Dewayne remembered the choke and engaged and it fired right up!! The light in Dylan's eyes were priceless, he was soo in awe, he looked at me and intently said, "Mom, He did it Heavenly Father started the boat Whew hew that was awesome!" and that was that, or so we thought! Well we were off and boy did we have a wonderful first time out on the boat, the fish were literally jumpin all over the place, like 5 at a time and the weather was perfect, just enough of a breeze, but not enough to make the water rough. We got to fish, and watch the pelicans do a much better job at catching their dinner than we were. However, it was the time together that made it so special. Well while we were headed back Dylan leaned over and asked, "Mom, so Heavenly Father is really here and he does really hear us and answer prayers?" Wow!! What a moment! I knew then just how much the experience had impressed his little mind, and strengthened his testimony and how much he would never forget that day!! Now let me go back a little...
Dewayne back in December was in between schools and was really struggling with the down time and started building on this boat to take up his time until he started at the new school. However he received MUCH heartache about the day in and day out time over and again, we all ragged him saying will it float by the time you finish pimpin it out, it's going to just roll over! But he remained steadfast and strong to the convictions, as he always does when he feels strongly about something, see I couldn't see past the logical reasoning; that we were in school, and living with family, and didn't have time, or the means to have a boat right now! (I mean come on how would that look!) But again he held true and firm. He just kept saying we don't have anymore time to wait the boys are growing up now, we can't wait what if we wait until it is too late, what if there is no tomorrow, or if something happens to us, or Lord forbid happens to them! I want to take my boys out fishing NOW, while they are so impressionable and young, and spend quality time fishing. To let them know that they have a friend in us; not just stressed out, busy all of the time, study-aholics! So I backed off, and we all let him at his "hobby", and in the end we didn't sink, and the boat didn't flip! It was surprisingly very sturdy! In fact we saw a john boat, just like it, with out all of the "accessories", and it was a mess! The person in the back was nearly in the water it was so unstable! LOL! So this weekend I was the sure to compliment him on the success of the boat and thank him for such a wonderful way to bond and spend time with the boys stress free! It is truly a blessing to have such a wonderful man, best friend, husband, and father to bless our lives and keep reminding us what is truly important in this life ~ FAMILY!!
