Helpin Houma La

Well yesterday we were blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of a huge effort to aid in the clean up of the debris left behind from Hurricane Gustav and Ike. It was in a little Parrish just south of Houma, LA. I was amazed to really get to see the church in action. It was great to be able to be a part of such a wonderful event, and very inspirational. All of this came together very quickly. All of the members came together to serve and help in less than a week. The church asked for 1000 and 1300 members showed up to help out these people in need. Most of us drove down the night before and camped at the church since it was such a long trip; overall it was very humbling experience to see the homes and lives turned upside down. It meant so much to them for us to come and help. On several occasions some of the jobs were already cleaned up, this community had such a wonderful charity about them. It seemed they were great at leading us to family and friends. It was very humbling to see them all working amazingly hard to get it all put back together.

Here is our make shift work trailer/ first aid we were blessed to be able to receive donations from some of the ERs here in mobile and take some equipment to help out with the efforts. Thankfully we didn't have to use any of the first aid stuff but the tools definitely came in handy!!

Here are all of the campers in front of the stake center. The place was filled up and went behind the church about a 100 yard or so there were so many that came out to serve.

These guys were amazingly sleeping on a tarp, can you say snakes!!! and bugs!!!!! WOW that's conviction!! We opted for the back of the suburban with a blowup mattress. I'm all for roughin it but you can go a little tooo far sometimes; ya know. Im not quite that committed!! LOL

We ended up all meeting at a unfinished church about a mile or so down the road. The church used it for a warehouse since it was unfinished and it worked great for all of the church's supplies pictured below
I think they had like 10 semi truckloads in this effort it was AMAZING!

It was amazing to drive up and down the streets and where ever you looked there were yellow shirts helping toward the cause to be honest i had never seen so many Mormons in one place before it was really a neat experience to be apart of! I almost felt like I was back in Idaho minus the swamp!! LOL~It was really neat to see everybody in yellow helping hand shirts; that really set us apart from everybody, and was neat to actually know who was Mormon, and to know we were all there for the same purpose and we all come from the same beliefs.
It was really hard to see these peoples lives on the street. All you could see for miles of road were parts of their lives and holmes taken and dumped on the side of the road. Most of it was pulled out of mud and water that had filled their homes. The storm left these people's homes either gone or gutted forcing them to start over again. It was hard to see for anyone but especially the elderly. These were really poor areas that could not afford to start over and many are not able to start over again without help from FEMA. It was one of the hardest things to see and experince. These are images I will never forget.

I have cracked the KANDOO kode !!!!!!!!

Any one who knows me, they know I like to beat the system any chance I get.
I fix my own stuff and call to see just how much I saved.
I think its Genetic.
When Carly sees something she likes I usually say wow I'm in the wrong business; I could do that.
You know this new foam soap that KANDOO came out with.
It is really cool and the kids love it.
Well we ran out the other day
And since we are broker than the 10 commandments right now I decided to try an experiment...
I poured about 1/4 of the bottle with rubbing alcohol (to thin the soap)
then I filled the rest of the bottle with the bulk soft soap that we have.
I shook it up and
WA LAAAA
ABSOLUTELY THE PERFECT REPRODUCTION IF I DO SAY SO MY SELF!!
I did try to do the same thing in a regular soap pump and it does not work.
The little foam pump is a must.

A Humble Hometeaching visit!!

Well we have learned this week if you see Odom on your caller id on Tuesday don't answer it (its a talk waiting for you on the other line by the way thank you Mike for not including me appreciate it don't think I could have done it this week!) and if you see the Emmertson's on Sunday afternoon it doesn't matter if you are taking that Sunday afternoon nap they are mighty persistent in checking in and making sure everything is a okay!! Gotta luv em!!

So they dropped by today as we were rising from our afternoon nap with cookies in hand anxiously awaiting for us to welcome them in HOWEVER we had finals all week, Dewayne had to prepare for a talk from answering the phone on tuesday and by the weekend me and Parker being under the weather; lets just say we have gotten little housekeeping done this week to say the least, not to say we havent gotten the clothes washed; they just havent made it to there rooms or been hung up just folded and strug all over the living room!AHHH!!
So when we heard the doorbell ring I thought please let that be a lost pizza delivery boy, but oh no it wasnt to make matters worse the boys love to sleep in their undies sooo as Dewayne cautiously led them in through our mess all the while warning them that I was going to kill him for letting them in the house! I walked into the boys needing to be dressed and Dewayne in the middle of all of the toys and sitting on a little tykes toddler chair (should've gotten a picture of that) so the brethren could have the only 2 lazy boys that wasnt taken over by laundry!!! AHHH!

So after I finished clothing the boys I quickly began stacking all of the folded and non hung clothes on one side of the couch and covered them with a comforter they all laughed and attempted to comfort me in my time of mortification saying oh its okay I have kids too and the other oh I came from a large family I totally understand the clothes situation. As I laughed and profusly apoligized stating well boys this isn't a large family and I am not a perfect wifey sorry this is probably as bad as it gets!! To make matters worse the boys started sliding down the mountain of clothes like it was a slide saying WEE!! I was just wanting to curl up under the mountain of clothes and go back to sleep WOW! what a day pretty humbling to say the least but I have to say the guys were great and kept asking if there was anything they could do for us I wanted to say yeah a maid but hey I guess we all have days like that or at least I hope yall do too!!

who knew that one organ could be so difficult and could be dissected in so many ways it is very faccinating; and with the 3D technoligies coming it is only going to get better!

FUTURE CARDIAC SONOGRAPHERS!!!!!

Well we did it!!! Here's the gang that has made it through the past 12 weeks of craziness!! We survived and are awesome!! So, we are now ready to embark on our next adventure; CLINICALS! We are so excited for somewhat normal working life and not studying as much we get to work for free for the next 12 weeks but, we were extatic to not have to go to far out on our assignments as we thought we would. Dewayne is going to Springhill Memorial (what is that like 10 min from the house!) and I'm going to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope YEAH!! We love our classmates and will miss them but not the stress that goes along being together! We love this school and new profession that is going to make our life so much better and enjoyable!! We both feel sooo very blessed to have finally found exactly what we want to be when you grow up!!

Dylan had another bad night!

Well we got to go to the ER for Dylan's asthma last Wed and again tonight; look at those eyes. he's not wired up at all by all of the meds; HUH?!

Well its been since march since his last flair up with croup, that almost took him outta here. Last Wed it struck and this time we were prepared; Daddy had to give him a epi pen injection to give us time to get to the ER and it was a God send that he wasnt deterorating on our way and by the time we got him there he was with it and asking the doctor questions like; so how much sleep do drs get? and telling the resp therapist hey im gonna take a nap while you give me that breathing treatment okay! it was so nice to experience it with out all the drama! we were able to get out alot faster not having to really stablize him as much as we usually do. So here he is showing yall where Daddy gave him the shot!! BAD DADDY!!

look at that face dont you just feel for em he is so lucky that we live in the times that we do and we are able to get him the treatment that he need and fast I am so grateful for him and hope the little guy gets better soon!!

The causeway was closed today and the water in the bay was crazy high it was wild to see parts of the causeway under water like where we usually launch our boat all you could see was the waves crashing over the walls and the tops of the pier posts The boys were bummed!

We decided to take the boys over to the fairhope pier and enjoy the scenery and gloom and darkness as the storm passes us by!!

The pelicans were everywhere we must have seen hundreds it was more in one place than I have ever seen before and they were filling up like crazy on whatever they could catch as if they could feel it in the air that a storms out there a brewin!!

Some people decided to take a chance today and take out their boats better them then the SSBubba

PUTT PUTT!!

Dylan has been doin so much better with his conduct this year sooo we decided to reward him with some PUTT PUTT!
Dylan LOVES the pirate putt putt soo we just HAD to scoot over to this one and grab some grub at Lamberts of course YUMMY~

Aunt WaWa

My aunt Wanda came back from ATL a few weeks ago and we got to go swimming at her pool at her hotel and got to spend time with her for her birthday!!

She added a phone line and got me a phone so when Dewayne and I go out of town in a couple of weeks separately for clinicals we will both have a phone in case of emergencies!! SHE ROCKS it is a camera phone and I love it the pics aren't always very clear but I love having it wherever I go for spur of the moment stuff so Ive just been changing the shades to make it clearer i dunno maybe it works!

boys club ONLY!

Well Mom and Dad got a new washer and dryer and the boys had a blast making a fort/boys only club/very cozy hut out of the boxes!!

They have a kitchen a futon a chair and Na Na added lights later Dylan drawing in some color to the "rug"

Dylan was quick to let me know giggling "NO MOM ALLOW" in their clubhouse

They have kept it up going on like 3 weeks now; only at grandmaws can you get away with that!!
